Barbara Albert

Barbara founded Sustainable Business Consulting with the vision of helping companies transition to a low carbon economy and make cost savings in the process. Barbara advises clients in Sustainability Strategy/Reporting, Carbon Accounting/Management and Green IT.

Barbara worked in the finance department and managed risk in close cooperation with the IT department. She liaised with vendors, banks, user industry groups, internal business units and outsourced partners. She provided risk advice and guidance to the business. She built awareness around risk issues and got executive buy-in for her business cases. She oversaw the implementation of risk projects with a major outsourced vendor.

Barbara was the main contact point for federal and state level government organisations for risk issues affecting Sydney Water. She developed and established information risk processes and strategy, authored AS/NZS7799-based policies and standards in alignment with the enterprise IT architecture and business needs. She established a risk management framework compliant with AS/NZS4360. She performed risk assessments and facilitated several workshop with the business and techn. staff on mitigation controls.

Barbara was the principal consultant in the prestigious Unisys European 'Centre of Excellence'. Her client list included but was not limited to: ING Group, Credit Suisse Group, Norwich Union, Halifax, American Express, Citibank and Citicorp, and various government agencies. Barbara spoke at several international conferences and held customer presentations, which lead to a considerable pipeline for Unisys' business.
