My Finance Planning Manager role involved managing both financial and non-financial targets within highly dynamic emerging markets, achieving significant revenue and shareholder growth. I was the lead liaison for strategic financial planning and reporting with the stations, working closely with local finance directors and their teams.

    Reporting to the Head of Broadcast Planning and Financial Analysis and the Broadcast Finance Director, I contributed widely to the strategic development of the BBC at the time by focused on the implementation and fine-tuning of medium-term strategy. This public sector role involved balancing financial and social obligations, where many targets were often non-financial in an environment of funding uncertainty

    I worked on the Heathrow Terminal 5 Project where I had responsibility for completing the economic appraisal of 12 core projects balancing contingencies and sensitivities. I was subsequently the only contractor retained by BA, and took on an infrastructure role within core Operations as the sole financial support for four General Managers: Airport Policy – LT strategy; Airport Planning – 1-5 year investments; Airport Infrastructure – ST projects; and Customer Service Systems – feasibility analysis.

    Fletcher Challenge was NZs largest public company. Its energy division was a large vertically integrated business delivering energy resources to customers. My strategic role within the Electricity team quickly expanded and I became a member of several core projects. Areas of responsibility increased to include strategic projects focused on our wider gas portfolio, receiving keen CEO interest, and resulted in a radical rethink of the company’s strategy.

    Following a scholarship, I was employed in audit and was quickly offered their first ever graduate role in the Utilities team of Management Consulting: one of the largest utility advisory practices in the country. Reporting directly to an Associate Director or Partner my role involved business analysis, economic and asset valuations, benchmarking, financial modelling, business process redesign, and merger benefit studies.
