Berufserfahrung von Keith Cann-Guthauser
I administer GoCARB. A Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways project funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme. The aim of the project is to support diabetes patients in counting carbohydrates and estimating the size of the insulin bolus. Although studies have shown that planning meals and counting carbohydrates is of great importance for diabetic patients, even well trained diabetic patients find it difficult to estimate carbohydrates precisely.

Grants Manager
Imperial College London
I oversaw the training of new staff members and liaised with a variety of sections across several medical campuses around West London. I would adjudicate in the more complex cases reconciling research projects where a high degree of problem-soving and negotiating skills would be required. I utilised a variety of bespoke application systems, many international in nature, to ensure the efficient approval and submission of research grant applications.
Starting as an administrator I rose to the rank of Research Support Manager in the University Research Operations Office where I assumed responsibility for the pre and post award research grant functions of the two most research-active schools within the University of Cambridge. I managed the day-to-day administration of the largest team within the division (16 staff), which holds >40% of the total research income of the University of Cambridge. I also chaired the Research Office EC group.
