Werdegang

Berufserfahrung von Naomi M. de Almeida

  • Bis heute 8 Jahre und 2 Monate, seit Mai 2016

    Applikationsspezialist Fermentation

    Sartorius
  • 1 Jahr, Okt. 2014 - Sep. 2015

    Postdoctoral Researcher

    Radboud University Nijmegen

As a postdoctoral researcher I continue working on the respiratory chain of anaerobic ammonium oxidizing bacteria. Routine techniques include FPLC for protein purification, UV-Vis analysis, molecurlar cloning techniques, denaturing and blue-native PAGE, complexome profiling, intracellular localization, as well as liquid and in-gel biochemical activity assays.

  • 5 Jahre, Aug. 2009 - Juli 2014

    PhD Candidate

    Radboud University Nijmegen

As a PhD candidate, I was working on the biochemistry of anaerobic ammonium oxidizing (anammox) bacteria. These bacteria are the most recent addition to the global nitrogen cycle, but our understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in their metabolism is still limited. Routinely used techniques include handling of 10L bioreactors, FPLC for protein purification, UV-Vis analysis, molecurlar cloning techniques, denaturing and blue-native PAGE as well as liquid and in-gel biochemical activity assays.

  • 1 Jahr, Juli 2008 - Juni 2009

    Research Assistant

    Massachusetts Institute of Technology

As a Research Assistent, I worked on the oleaginous bacterium Rhodococcus opacus PD630. It's carbon-storage compounds, long-chained fatty acids, are promising for microorganism-derived biofuel production. The projects during this time included the optimization of growth conditions for increased fatty acid production and initial experiments in order to compare of R. opacus PD630 and R. jostii RHA1 in their ability of lipid-accumulation.

  • 9 Monate, Sep. 2007 - Mai 2008

    Diplomandin

    Massachusetts Institute of Technology

During my diploma internship I worked on the oleaginous bacterium Rhodococcus opacus PD630. It's carbon-storage compounds, long-chained fatty acids, are promising for microorganism-derived biofuel production. The projects during this time included the identification of Acyl-CoA-Synthetases responsible for activation of ß-oxidation pathways in R. opacus PD630. Routine work included assembly and disassembly of 300 mL SIXFORS bioreactors, molecular cloning and qPCR.

  • 2005 - 2007

    Barista

    Buchkantine

  • 6 Monate, März 2006 - Aug. 2006

    Praktikantin

    Cezanne, SAS

My 6 months long internship in the R&D department of Cezanne SAS (now part of Thermo Fischer Scientific) was focussed on the standardization and improvement of the purification and labeling processes of compounds used in one of their commercial diagnostic kits, without affecting performances of the immunoassay in reference to sensitivity or stability of the kit. This included frequent handling of animal derived antisera and the use of FPLC protein purification techniques.
