Focus on innovation of railway mainline signaling and urban rail solutions

I developed and implemented the strategy of the Radio Frequency division for the market segments Transportation and General Industrial. Key targets were wireless communication applications in the market segments Railway and Industrial Automation. Therefore I cooperated with Product Management on elaborating the portfolio roadmap and communicated with our global sales organizations to push the implementation in the market. Furthermore, my small team of application engineers supported key customers.

I was leading several design and development groups. I gained valuable managerial experience during this time by reorganizing the R&D department, implementing our new innovation process, preparing ISO/TS 16949 certification, and developing a project management culture. During this time I cooperated closely with the COO-RF with regard to the development roadmap and project portfolio management and regularly reported to the H+S executive committee on innovation.

Here I contributed in the build up of the Advanced Development department and our team worked on Microwave and Antenna Technologies, High Speed Digital- and Baseband Electronics, and Communication systems. This was my first position with line management responsibility and I gained valuable experience. Furthermore I was project manager of a key technology development project and we successfully developed a 60GHz point-to-point radio.

During this position in the Millimeterwave Module Development at the MicroWave Factory of EADS Ulm I learned project management. Tough customers, a great team, a lot of technical and organisational challenges within an international context, and an exciting topic (77GHz automotive radar).

I worked as development engineer at the MIC/MMIC Design group at the Hyperfrequency Divison of EADS Ulm. Here I was focused on transistor and microwave circuit modelling and chip design and alongside managed the UNIX workstations of the design group.

I was pursuing my doctoral thesis at the Institute for Microwave Engineering and was successfully striving to stabilize mm-wave sources based on IMPATT diodes at 77GHz.
