BIW, colour and Trim, including lamps and fuel system for the new front wheel driven BMW/MINI platform, LU Challenge was to design a backbone architecture, wide enough stretchable in length, width and height to meet the requirements of UKL1 and UKL 2 class derivatives. Focus was to minimise the necessary capital investments therefore, combined with low manufacturing costs. First time at BMW Group we spread a platform so much especially in width and height.
Ergonomics and interior architecture (facia, seats, colour and trim) For the complete BMW Group Due to the fact that these functions have been new within the Division, task was to set up the required processes, tools and staffing them.
1- and 3-Series platform, E87ff, E90ff, E92ff, E84, Z4 leading 70 Team-Members First time for BMW-Group we set up a platform over two vehicle classes. UKL 2 and KKL, spread in length with complete different designs on it. Virtual database with aligned geometric collision checks and functional simulations was consequently used to improve the quality of hardware prototypes and to reduce the required units of them.
Overall concept and virtual car, Current Range Rover, L30 Challenge was to engineer a complete car in a multicultural and multi company surrounding. Rover was responsible for styling and package, Karman for BIW, colour and trim, BMW for chassis and engines. First time for BMW Group we used the virtual database for geometric collision checks to improve and support the COC´s releases.
In the reengineering program of BMW Group Objective of this program was to cut the development time by one third
Due to business case reasons we drafted the idea to set up several derivatives on one Platform. Cost were driving concept. This plans came unfortunately to an end with the transfer of the project to ROVER.
Longitudinal mounted V6 concept proposal to reduce the front overhang. Zone manager within several Projects. 1992, my first overall concept. A 3.8 meter car with an rear end mounted engine as an alternative to the conventional front wheel driven concepts. 1990 first concept responsibility, first time to lead attached internal end external assistants. A long wheelbase version of 7-Series with a “special engine”. In addition responsibility for the virtal car and the support of the CAD-System
