Within the context of my PhD thesis, I am currently working on a 3D terrain visualization system in Virtual Reality environments with an application focus of geological research on Remote Sensing data of Mars.

I was responsible for development of core modules of a system for virtual design of fiber microstructures such as filter materials, represented as voxel grids. I worked on rendering (OpenGL and CPU ray-casting), structure generation algorithms and GUI, targetting both Windows and Linux platforms. Furthermore, I parallelized an in-house numerical flow solver using MPI.
