• Led the development of a new tool manufacturing process that achieved a 10% increase in tolerances and was awarded a patent. • Determined main parameters for design optimization of dressing tools and tendency of process forces through modeling, simulation and experimentation. Achieved up to 60% in change of process forces. • Developed software to overlap 3D tool data measured with an optical 3D micro coordinate system, measuring the progressive wear of the diamond grits.

• Improved automatic manufacturing process of brazed Diamond and CBN tools, allowing use of small grits, single grains and with acceptable pattern deviation. Improvements required changes on surface quality of the tool body, and changes to software and hardware of grit placement machine. • Managed operations to provide part’s optical 3D measurements of roughness and shape for industrial partners. Served as technical, administrative and training lead of operations for five years and over 80 students

• Performed wear analysis of grinding tools used for grind the crankshaft. • Reduction of productions costs of US $0,40 per workpiece.

Dissertation titled: “Wear behavior of diamond dressing tools on dressing of corundum worm grinding wheels” • Determined main wear mechanism on dressing tools through isolated analysis of thermal, chemical and tribological aspects. Reduced experimental time for design optimization by 80%.

Dissertation titled “Roughness prediction by modelling and simulation the grinding process with engineered grinding tools” • Developed modeling and simulation of diamonds and CBN grits’ placement on tools for roughness prediction, leading to improvement of development time and reduction of costs.
