Dr. Silke Penner

With more than a decade of experience with cryptocurrencies I’ve been researching the topic of cryptocurrency and the taxation of income from virtual worlds almost since its birth. This is paired with 6 years of experience in auditing and tax in the Big Four but also medium sized companies as well as about 3 years of experience in business consulting (a.o. as project leader for the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system). Therefore I have got a broad knowledge of how to tackle business challenges related to virtual assets and their economic and tax implications. After finalizing my studies of Business Administration at European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder) and Universiteit Maastricht with my Master's degree (equiv. Diplom-Kauffrau) I’ve dived into the economic aspects of the virtual worlds and received a doctorate on this topic. At EY, I’m a member of the Crypto-specialist group, which deals with enquiries about taxation of cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
