Internship: Development of an affordable Flat Twin engine concept

    Renault

Conceptual development of an 815cc two cylinder Boxer engine involving. - Optimization of gas exchange system (intake & exhaust) for higher low-end torque and flatter top-end torque. - Development of an innovative connecting rod to achieve perfect balancing without any Balancing shaft. - Qualitative cost analysis to study the economic viability as compared to the existing three cylinder engines.

Mater Thesis: Hybridization of the Tesla Roadster to achieve double Range

    IFP School/ AVL Austria

Development of a Series Hybrid model to achieve 680km range per charge (2*340km with the pure electric version). - Choice of Powertrain: Existing 223kW Electric motor and a 25kW AVL Wankel engine. - Car Weight was constant at 1335kg (additional engine weight was compensated by battery weight reduction). - Energy Management System with an Instantaneous Range Prediction algorithm to minimize engine usage. - Simulations reported a consumption of 0.5L/100kM (11.4g of CO2/km) in the NEDC cycle.

Internship: Design of a proposed Bedplate for the BR08 engine

    Renault

Existing competitor Bedplates were benchmarked and a preliminary Aluminum bedplate design for the BR08 engine was proposed along with the required stress analysis calculations. Oil Pump capacity was reduced by 30% based on the calculation results which resulted in the improvement of fuel consumption.

Bachelor Thesis: Effects of Forced intake on a biodiesel CI engine

Thermal Laboratory, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirapalli

The topic of Bachelor thesis was to study experimentally, the effects of forced intake on the characteristics of a Compression Ignition engine running on biodiesel. - Bio-diesel was prepared by trans-etherification process from waste cooling oil. - A special supercharged intake system was designed for precise control of intake pressure. - Significant reduction in NOX and CO was achieved along with reduction in fuel consumption.

Reseach Assistant: Development of Universal Engine Controller

Internal Combustion Engine Laboratory, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

An Engine Controller was developed in LabVIEW2009 which used National Instruments CRIO or PXI hardware. It effectively controlled and monitored the relevant engine running parameters (multiple injections, ignition, lubrication, cooling etc.) for any fuel injected two or four stroke engine (conventional/ CRDI/ MPFI/ GDI).

  • 8 Monate, Mai 2009 - Dez. 2009

    Research Assistant

Internal Combustion Engine Laboratory, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

    - Engine test at various ethanol-gasoline blends at different loads and compression ratios (Experimentation on a single cylinder automotive SI engine operated on different hydrous ethanol gasoline blends to study its performance characteristics and improve on emission norms) - Practical Difficulties in using Alcoholic fuels and Solutions (Detailed study on Demixing or Phase-separation of alcohol/gasoline blend fuels, Effects of blend fuels on engine materials and rubbers)
