Tom Stöven

My name is Tom Stöven. I am 35 years old and i live in Detmold, Germany. I'm a professionell photographer in portraits and reports. Portraits are for me more than a photo. The light, the backround and the people i'd photograph should tell a story. It is important to transfer emotions to the viewer. Mostly i take the photos in black and white. In my opinion colours distract the viewer from the essential. I like hard contrasts, bright white and deep black. These technique i use for the reports too. Black an white shows only the act, it shows what happend. My volunteer work and a matter of my heard is, that i take photos of stillbirths. I drive to the hospital and take the first and the last photo for the parents of their little died child. I do it for the german organisation „ Dein-Sternenkind“. These photos don´t need any colour to tell a story or to create memories. On my homepage you will find some coloured photos.
