At the Institute of Experimental Molecular Imaging, Department of Physics of Molecular Imaging Systems, which is colaborating with RWTH Aachen University, my research focused on time-of-flight PET systems using analog SiPM technology.

Proceeding with research on artificial lungs I get first-hand insights to developing and building oxygenator prototypes. Facing proper GUI programming in Python (Tkinter) I am entrusted with writing a software evaluating measurement data of in vivo and in vitro testing. Quality management tasks, i. e. detailed documentation as well as generating test cases are also part of my work.

Automating system testing for dialysis machines in Python I got introduced to quality and risk management as well as verification andlicensing processes. Discussions with my supervisors lead to one patent application.

Occupied with fundamental research in tissue engineering aiming to cure end-stage organ diseases by recreating and implanting damaged tissues, I am investigating the mechanical influences on epithelial morphogenesis, which confirmed my ambition to pursue in a career combining physical, technical, and medical knowledge.

Responsible for designing and setting up Mock Circulation Loops in order to simulate severe heart diseases and test blood pumps and Ventricular Assist Devices I was concerned with implementing a controldesk using Matlab (Simulink). My work lead to the offer of a bachelorthesis considering developing a numerical method in order to carefullyvevaluate a novel oxygenator prototype.

Furthermore, working in the first level support and documentation team gave me first-hand insights to the complex structure of its organization units showing me the importance of precise team work.

Working with cancer patients and responsible for monitoring and patient care I assisted patients with their personal hygiene and got introduced to basic medical interventions and the organizational processesin a large medical centre. This experience definitely contributed to mydecision to pursue a career in the field of biomedical engineering.

Advisors: Pieter Moree, PhD, Christian Blohmann, PhD, Julie Rowlett, PhD MPIM gave me first insights to the inspiring and energetic atmosphere at research institutes and showed me the challenge of looking deeply into a specific research topic, which let me pursue school majors as well a studies in the field of natural sciences.
